It is the day before Thanksgiving, and all of my cards and decorations are finished. So I took a moment out of my day to create a Christmas card. I went directly to my CTMH Artiste Cricut Cartridge for this gorgeous ornament. I welded a white base together to create the card, and I set it at 5 inches tall, so that I could fit it into a square envelope. Next, I cut a layer of silver and put the decorate layer of red on top. I inked the red with a little bit of White Daisy ink.

To further create the mood of Christmas winter, I added two leaves in shades of green with White Daisy ink on top for a snowy effect. On the inside of the card, I stayed a sentiment from the Snowhaven stamp set (D1625) and inked the edges with Ponderosa Pine ink.

One tip that I use when I stamp sentiments is to emboss with clear powder. I do this to even out and and deepen the ink color. I like to use clear in case the powder sticks to the sides around the stamp.

Autumn Tree

Do you have the Cricut cartridge Artfully Sent by Close to My Heart yet (Get it HERE)? I just love this cartridge because I can make cute cards so quickly. I was inspired to make this card because this particular embossing folder looks so great with the tree. I inked the embossing to add some depth and then used my Skittles and ribbon for some pop.

HOME

One of my monthly purchases from Close to My Heart was Camper Crazy Occasions set (C1578). But it has just been sitting in the pile of purchases from that month (this stamp set goes great with the Timberline kit). So today, I decided to be inspired by this stamp set to make a card.

I started with collecting scraps of papers from the Skylark collection. I used Cocoa ink (Z2114) to stamp the sentiment and the camper image. I used my Spectrum Noir markers to color the camper image. Finally, I added ribbon from my stash.

I love the way this came together, and it was so easy to do.

“TakeHeartIdeas”

For my project, I wanted create my own background. I looked over my CTMH stamps for inspiration and found C157 Lifting Spirits Occasions with cloud shapes and an airplane. I colored them with my Spectrum Noir markers: TB 1, 2, and 3. Next, I added the bursts of yellow from S1406 Kaboom. I added some glitter.

I stamped the airplane onto a tag die cut, and used my stash of ribbon and twine to end. I was inspired to put the string and twine from one of the airplanes that carry a message with them in the sky. For the sentiment, I punched a small orange tag and I used D1629 Just to Say (Artfully Sent set).

Leaves...

Challenge #16: Fall with a Die Cut and Stamp

It's time for another challenge at ScrapbookerPhD, and I am super excited about the theme. My inspiration for this card was watching the leaves around my area changing colors (and falling to the ground). Here, I started with this fabulous leaf paper from Close to My Heart, the Pathfinding collection. Buy it HERE

Because the leaf pattern was subtle, I went ahead and embossed the paper with another, but bolder, leaf pattern. I added the small cork embellishment from the Pathfinding kit to the center of the die cut circle.

A Halloween Card, Artfully Sent

I knew I was going to love the Artfully Sent Cricut cartridge by Close to My Heart. When you purchase the cartridge, it comes in a set with stamps and cardstock. I have all of the three previous CTMH cartridges, but Artfully Sent is my favorite now, since the cartridge focuses on making all different types of cards.

Today, I want to show you how I made the Haunted House card. I have the photo of the handbook below. Notice that the actual card base for the Haunted House is a swing card. Where the opening of the card swings out to the left.

I decided that I didn't want the card to swing. I cut the card as directed (black card below), but I wanted to be able to do some layering. In my Cricut Design Space, I resized the black card to on a regular size A4 card with room for layers. The first layer on the card is green, and then the black from the swing card.

For the inside layer of the card, I used a bright orange, circle glitter patterned cardstock. The cartridge file did all of the work for me. The moon and bats were cut as the liner of the card. Next, I folded the "swing" or the house over the card and adhered it with a LOT of pop dots.

And, then, I attached this creepy, sparkly crow brad just to add to the feeling of a spooky night at a Haunted House. The entire inside of the card is white for a sentiment of writing.

I'm looking forward to seeing how other people interpret this card.

Thanksgiving already?

Seriously, where did the time go? It was just yesterday that I was swimming and reading by the pool. Now, the leaves are changing colors and falling to the ground. The nights are chilly. And October is over, which means Halloween projects will now slowly ebb into to Thanksgiving. That's where this card comes in...

With so many cards to make, I started with some CAS cards. This card base is on a kraft cardstock  with a green mat, and the leaf patterned paper by CTMH, Pathfinding Collection (X7186B). When I bought the Pathfinding Collection, I also received these great cork embellishments that I used at the bottom of the card. The sentiment stamp is also from CTMH, the Thankful Heart Holiday set (B14563).
